About Us
We're Rich and Mel. Paramedics. Shift Workers. And We Built This for You.
For over 15 years, we've worked 24/7 shifts—nights, weekends, public holidays. We've missed birthdays, anniversaries, and sleep. We've dragged ourselves through brain fog at 3AM and told ourselves "this is just how it is."
But the pandemic broke us.
Burnout hit hard. We were exhausted, foggy, running on fumes. And we kept asking: Who helps the helpers?
Our Story
So we started digging. Research papers. Sleep science. Nutrition. Supplements. Some of it worked. A lot of it didn't. But slowly, we figured it out.
Better sleep strategies. Smarter eating. Movement on days off. And evidence backed supplements that made a real difference.
We felt better. Thought clearer. Recovered faster. And we realised: we're not alone.

Who We Are
We're both Kiwis who grew up in small country towns in New Zealand. We were raised in close-knit communities where looking after each other was how life worked.
We met while studying Paramedicine in Auckland. In 2011, we moved to Melbourne to begin our careers—and stepped fully into the reality of shift work.
Shift Focus is a natural extension of our upbringing and careers. Built on community, care, and lived experience.

We (Husband + wife co-founders) are the real deal shift workers like you. After over 15 years of 24/7 shift work, we knew we needed to optimise our shift work life to stay doing it. We love the benefits, like so many of our fellow shift workers say they could never go back to 9-5. The rewards can outweigh the drawbacks but only if you do it properly.
